SUMMARY:Jim Serger and Jim Serger Jr. Book Signing and Talk
DESCRIPTION:
Former Columbus residents Jim Serger and Jim Serger Jr. in their book\, &quot\;Go the Distnance\, tell of one family's true story of redemption and recovery. In order for a
relationship to hold\, one must be willing to keep it strong no matter
how weak it becomes. That is the power of love. But love alone does not
always guarantee satisfaction. This book is about will power\, and the
desire to keep love afloat--it is about communication for survival\, and
the will power to believe in someone\, even when they are not willing to
believe in themselves. How far are you willing to go for a loved one?Jim
Serger shares how far he and his family went to save the relationship
with his father through his dad's battle with alcoholism. This is a
heartfelt and personal journey\; one that will resonate with anyone who
has struggled to pull a loved one from the depths of addiction back into
the joy of life. This book will prove to anyone that as long as there
is a will\, there is a way. The will is the how and the now\, and it can
determine the future. What is in the past is in the past. Put it behind
you and focus on tomorrow. If you have ever been down in the valley\,
staring up at the highest mountain\, and feel there is no way to the top\,
this book is for you. Jim Serger and his father were able to beat the
odds and overcome the obstacles through sheer unconditional love\, will
power and faith. It can be done. &quot\;Go the Distance &quot\;will tell you how.

SUMMARY:Josh Bliell Book Talk and Signing
DESCRIPTION:

Josh Bleill tells people he had &quot\;one bad day.&quot\; On October 15\, 2006\,
while on a combat patrol in Fallujah Iraq\, an IED (improvised explosive
device) struck Josh's Humvee. The explosion tore through the vehicle
killing two of his fellow marines and severely injuring Bleill and his
best friend. Josh awoke five days later with the news of the loss of his
two friends and both of his legs.

Recovering physically presented a great challenge\, but the mental recovery was the true
battle. For three and a half months he never left the hospital. He
didn't want people to see his injured body. The hospital corridors gave
him a safe place to hide.

Josh's life turned when an anonymous
National Football League team owner arranged for Josh and fifteen to
twenty other injured Marines to travel to Miami for Super Bowl XLI.
Sitting in the pouring rain watching his favorite team\,the Colts\, win a world championship\, Josh realized he had to make a choice.

SUMMARY:Book Lover's Night Out
DESCRIPTION:
There is no better way to spend a February night than with fellow book lovers.

Join
us Tuesday\, February 7\, beginning at 5\:30 at Viewpoint with a glass of
wine and a general discussion of recommended books by staff and
attendees. We will then go to Tre Bicchieri for dinner and on to
Yes for a video author event with Amy Waldman. We will conclude around
8\:30. Tickets are $35 available at Viewpoint\, but if someone wants to
attend just the Yes event it is $5.

As part of our Book Lover's Night out this year we are having a video discussion at Yes Cinema with Amy Waldman\, author of The Submission\,
our favorite fiction book of 2011. The novel revolves around a group
who must choose a memorial after a terrorist attack similar to 9/11. In a
blind submission an American Muslim architect's design is chosen. The
selection causes a national uproar\, and everyone involved must confront
their religious\, political and personal reactions to this national
tragedy. Waldman does not choose sides\, but looks at the varied
reactions to the memorial and it's designer with keen understanding.

Part
of the book deals with some very interesting discussions about secular
and religious architecture and the melding of the two.

We
are not alone in honoring this book as it has been voted Esquire's book
of the year\, and one of the top ten novels of 2011 by NPR.

You don't have to read The Submission
prior to the event to enjoy the discussion\, but a visit to the website
below will help you have some basic understanding of the book.

For those who do wish to read the book we are offering $5 off the list price. And don't forget you can purchase the ebook at <a href=\\"http\://www.viewpointbooks.com/\\">http\://www.viewpointbooks.com
